HM: What can you tell us about Prym1 Camo? What was the idea?
P1: Firstly, it’s important to understand that Prym1 Camo® is a licensing company, in which we license our camouflage patterns to many different companies across many different markets, that ultimately provide consumer soft/hard goods – from hunting to fishing, lifestyle to more specific tactical applications.
Prym1Camo® was built as a concealment solution for outdoors men and women that need to be concealed and blend into their surroundings, when it matters most. Our family of patterns allow full flexibility of movement through various terrains, by utilising the depth of colours, shadows and highlights with the organic shapes found on predators in the wild. Unlike the traditional ‘sticks and leaves’ camouflage or the typical pixelated, micro/macro digital patterns, Prym1 Camo®was designed and built on the basis of being a true hybrid camo. A camouflage pattern that is truly versatile and adaptive, capable of not only blending, but matching a multitude of environments. By using organic, varying shapes and colours in our non-directional patterns, it helps to achieve a natural concealment with the terrain you find yourself in, creating a camouflage with the effectiveness of an alpha predator.

HM: Who helped the idea to develop the pattern?
P1: The Prym1® [‘prime-one’] camo pattern was designed and founded by Stacie Walker, an American professional wildlife artist and avid huntress.
“My job has been to study the specific patterns & textures of animals in nature and to mimic them in my art. Years of study and hunting experience led me to develop Prym1 Camo, which uses the colours and textures of nature with the organic patterns of wildlife to create a camouflage with the effectiveness of a predator.”
HM: You have recently come into a licensing partnership with Seeland? How long have you been working on this to develop what we see today?
P1: Yes – this one has been in the can for quite a while after initial discussions started with Seeland back in early 2017. Since then, we’ve gone through rigorous testing of the pattern in many countries across all seasons, going through multiple iterations to develop the pattern we see today, the perfect concealment solution for European hunters – Prym1 Woodlands®.
By understanding Seeland’s continuing need for innovation to provide hunters an effective 365-day active layering system, our non-directional camouflage offers the perfect next step in implementing flexibility of movement across varying terrains and seasons. Together we have worked closely on taking Seeland’s Hawker series to the next level for A/W 19. Since its introduction, Seeland’s Original Hawker suit has been renowned for its qualities in active hunting: offering the hunter optimum freedom of movement, breathability and ‘mix & match’ options to cover the entire season, in any terrain.
Now with the introduction of our new pattern, Prym1 Woodlands®, Seeland’s Hawker suit becomes the ultimate go-to solution for stalking – The Hawker Prym1®.

HM:For which surroundings is the Prym1 Woodlands pattern targeted?

P1: The new Prym1 Woodlands® pattern has been developed as a concealment solution, built for the active hunter in wooded terrain. The pattern evolved on the basis of Prym1’s vision for the future – that in today’s world, the active hunter wants to get out and stalk after their quarry by taking full advantage of their surroundings, just like a predator would. The new Hawker Prym1® suit not only allows the hunter flexibility of movement, it also allows the hunter to be effective across varying distances. More specifically, being concealed at a short enough range to make a successful, ethical shot – when it matters most!
HM: What feedback you received from end users?

P1: The 13th-17th May marked the week-long media event of Seeland’s new ‘Hawker Prym1’ suit launch, together with event partners, Hornady Ammunition, J. P. Sauer & Sohn, Leupold Optics and oursleves, Prym1 Camo. Across the week, hosted by outfitter Cervus-UK, global media journalists/social influencers had the chance to test the new Seeland clothing range, hunting Roebucks and Muntjac in the rolling Hampshire Downs – open landscape of rolling farmland, divided by blocks of ancient woodland – the ideal ground for testing our Prym1 Woodlands pattern to it’s core.
Over the week we were inundated with lots of varying opinions from well-respected hunting journalists, who described the pattern to be ‘highly adaptable’ and ‘versatile’ whilst hunting across ever-changing terrain. Most notably, Dom Holtam (Editor-in-Chief of Rifle Shooter Magazine, U.K) described the pattern stating:
“Having seen it [Prym1 Hawker suit in the Prym1 Woodlands pattern] now in loads of different environments, the open down lands, moving along the hedge rows and deep in the woods, it’s been really good – so, it seems like it’s a good adaptable pattern! It’s certainly been attractive to the [Roe] does tonight, we’ve been stood here literally surrounded by deer – it definitely get’s our seal of approval!”.
